What Is Fabriform?

 

Fabriform  is a cost-efficient system implemented to form concrete in difficult areas, for the purpose of deterring erosion and improper water run-off. In essence, the material is a double-layer of a particular type of nylon yarn, with 50% of it being specially textured for filtering, adhesion, and external reinforcement.

 

This Fabriform* is field-sown upon the graded area, and then literally filled with a fluid concrete mix via pumping. The fabric retains the hardened or solid parts of the mix. This then allows the concrete mix to be installed in wet, dry, or even underwater areas. (All traditional pouring and forming techniques are thus avoided.) As soon as the fabric is full of the concrete, the installation is done. There are no molds or other forms to be removed. At this point the job would be finished!

 

Styles

 

Fabriform comes in three basic styles: (1) Filter Point (2) Unimat (3) Articulating Block. These are simply a means to an end when filled, due their contrasting shapes. For example, Unimat might be employed to line a cooling basin. Articulating Block does well if a wall of sorts is needed, or underpinning. Filter Point is sometimes employed in or around ditches or spillways. Each shape is tailored for a different use and task. As such, this stuff can be effectively used for erosion control and scour repairs almost anywhere. The results are almost always impressive. No, they are overly impressive.
